  1. I love your sales tips! I look forward to them each week. Question – how do you sell a service that doesn’t cost the client a penny? I believe you know our company because you were a speaker at one of our events, but what we do is site selection and contract negotiation for organizations holding a meeting or event and require 10 hotel rooms or more. The hotels pay us commission so we never charge our clients. Prospects either think it is a scam or that I will inflate the hotel costs to cover my commission (neither of which are true of course) so it’s tough getting clients. Any suggestions?

  3. Testimonials! The best way to sell your value to to have loads of happy customers who will advocate on your behalf.

  4. This business of overselling is so true. And another version of overselling, might be over specifying or including too many details about what was agreed on, unless of course those details are critical. By over specifying something you could be inadvertently overselling! I love the clear way in which Colleen covers this by saying, “Always make sure that what you said you were going to do and what you actually put in writing are exactly the same thing.”
