Leaving Your Goals in Your Drawer | Sales Tips
It’s really common for people to set goals. In sales, if you don’t set goals yourself, you'll probably have someone setting them for you anyways.
Top sales performers that I work with on a regular basis tend to follow the same pattern of measurement. Every week at the end of the week, they spend 30 minutes reviewing what went right and what went wrong that week. Then they go about resetting their goals for the next week. At the end of the month, they repeat that pattern, but they probably use more time to analyze their performance.
Are you ahead or behind?
If you're behind, what do you need to do differently in order to make up that gap? If your ahead, what do you need to do to continue to leverage this success and what are your action plans for that month? At the end of the quarter, do an analysis of your entire business to make sure that you’re on track. You’re going to be ahead or behind at various times in the year and that’s okay as long as you’re correcting yourself as you go along.
If you wait until the end of the year to make a decision about whether you’re going to hit your goals or not, it's already too late. Be intimate with your numbers and always take a backward and a forward-looking approach at the end of the week, the end of the month and the end of the quarter. That is what’s going to help you create a non-stop sales boom.
