This one is for all the sales leaders, sales managers out there. Remember, it's not your job to be better as a salesperson than your sales team is at their job. Leadership is a completely different skill. It's not your job to remind salespeople that you are better than they once were - if you were - by constantly adding value and showing them a different way. It's your job to be a good leader and a good coach.

And sometimes when a salesperson comes to you with a plan that is good, if they implement it, then the best coaching you can give them is hey, that looks great! Now let's talk about implementing it.

The more you pile on, the more you change, the more you tell them that your way is better. The more you try to add value, in many cases, the less likely the plan will get implemented. Because now it's your plan, not their plan.

So remember some times when a salesperson comes to you and they've got an idea, or they've got an approach that you think is good, but you think to yourself, yeah, but my way would be better., just let them have the win. Just say, hey, that sounds great. Let's talk about implementing it. Report back, and if we need to tweak it later, we can.

That way you get buy in. That way, you get people who are interested in helping you achieve your goals. And that way you get a motivated, coachable salesperson.
